Awakening the Church - CHHI 5052 (Alternative course offering)
The letters written by John the Apostle straight from the throne room of Christ are presented as
a wake-up call to the sleeping church. The same letters present a trumpet blast to awaken
todays slumbering modern-day Church of Christ. Students will learn the core messages given to
the seven churches in the first century and how to use the critical revelation of Christ to awaken
a true revival among the church in America. The class will consist of class lectures and reading
material including the Book of Revelation and the book Letter to the American Church. Upon
completion of the class, students will learn how to awaken the modern-day church by
proclaiming truth, becoming a witness to backslidden Christians and actively position
themselves to bring revival to the American Church.
The Kingdom of God
The course is designed to expose the weakness of religious traditions and to reveal the power
of the Kingdom of God. Jesus did not preach about getting people saved and church
attendance. He released the Kingdom of Heaven into His followers which empowered them to
turn ancient culture upside down. Today more than ever we need to prioritize the Kingdom of
God as a way of life. The class will present the Biblical foundation for the Kingdom of God and
how modern day Believers can replicate the Kingdom based on the teachings of Christ and the
basic model found in the book of Acts. Along with a full understanding of the Kingdom of God
students will learn how to recognize the difference between religious traditions and the Kingdom of God.
